Getting Started with SEMrush Keyword Overview
In this lesson, we will start off by continuing to explore SEMrush's Keyword Gap report. This is a great keyword analysis tool because it allows you to directly compare domains head-to-head, and lets you see both their common and unique keywords. Then, we will take a look at Keyword Analytics, which is designed to show you the keywords that suit you most. Finally, we will briefly talk about what keyword difficulty is all about.
By the end of this lesson, we hope that you will have an understanding of how using the Keyword Gap report and Keyword Analytics together enables you to strategically broaden your existing pool of keywords.
Using the Keyword Gap report
The Keyword Gap report allows you to compare up to 5 competitors at a time. To do this, all you have to do is enter the relevant domains of each competitor you want to look at, and select paid, organic or PLA keywords for your analysis. The report will then return a ton of information including total keyword overlap and the common keywords shared between your chosen domains or competitors.
This information can really help you when it comes to planning an SEO campaign as you'll already know where the best keyword opportunities are, and what is working for your top competitors.
Analyzing Keywords with the Help of Keyword Overview
If you click on any keyword from the list in the Keyword Gap report, you can immediately jump to the related Keyword Analytics report for that keyword. This report gives you a range of information that allows you to drill down into the data behind your chosen keyword. For example, the Phrase Match report will provide you with all the keyword combinations that contain a given keyword. Alternatively, you can use the Related Keywords report to investigate and analyze semantically related keywords. You can play around with the filters to find high-volume or long-tail keywords that will generate relevant traffic.
