5 SEO Tools To Make Your Life Easier

Having SEO knowhow is one thing, but being able to implement this knowledge effectively is on a completely different level. The right information does wonders for running a successful SEO strategy.

With my experience in SEO, I’ve discovered and experimented with a variety of tools that have each used different techniques for improving the way you approach SEO. While few have stood the test of time, there are a particular few that I am constantly going back to.

Keep reading to find out the 5 SEO tools that can make your life easier.

1. SEMrush

A large part of marketing is finding out who your potential customers are and how you can serve them. For our new business identification, we use SEMrush.

SEMrush helps us prospect for businesses that we can work best with. In particular, we look for companies in our area who have a lot of high volume search terms in the bottom half of page 1 in the SERPs. We know that we can add the most value to them and deliver a good return.

When we are onboarding a new client, SEMrush is useful to find opportunities for keywords we can target. As a result, we are able to complete a competitive analysis, understand the current market standings, and form a strategy that best suits the client.

One of the main advantages that SEMrush has over their competitors is the exceptional accuracy of the historical data. Historical data is crucial because it gives insight into the performance of keywords in the past, giving a far better idea of how to implement future strategies. Unlike SEMrush, many companies either don’t have accurate analytics or they lack any historical data altogether.

2. Open Site Explorer (OSE)

There are three key functions for which we use Open Site Explorer.

First, to ensure that a client’s most important pages have the appropriate amount of authority in comparison to the other pages. This information is useful for deciding how to approach the prioritization of you link acquisition strategy.

Second, to analyze the links associated with the client’s website. This includes checking anchor text diversity and potential problems that may result, as well as monitoring the progress of the client’s link acquisition.

And finally, to evaluate the link profile of our clients’ competitors. This function is useful for understanding why you may be outranked by a competitor. Reasons for this may include the relevancy of your competitor’s link profile compared to yours, the localization of the links, as well as the volume of links and anchor text diversity. OSE also helps us get ideas for potential outreach targets.

3. Yoast

There are a myriad of different ways to improve your on-page SEO, and it’s not always easy remembering exactly what you need to include on a particular page or post on your website. This is where Yoast comes in.

Yoast is a WordPress plugin that helps you keep track of SEO-related elements on your page or post. Most importantly, it helps you optimize for the right things while grading your efforts in real time. Within each page or post that you edit in Wordpress, there is a checklist that you can follow, ensuring that you have included keywords in everything from the URL to the meta description.

4. Followerwonk

Another crucial aspect of SEO strategy is being able to build links, and a great way to do this is through guest posts. Twitter is a particularly good platform to search and get connected with bloggers in the same industry as you. But how do you find the right people?

Followerwonk is also an app created by Moz that allows you to monitor users on Twitter. When approaching guest post prospects on Twitter, it’s important to personalize your message. As such, direct messages are more effective than tweets.

The catch is you are only able to send direct messages to your followers. But by using Followerwonk, you are able find out information about your followers including their social authority. This comes in handy to ensure a follower will be beneficial to build links with.

5. LinkedIn

As with Twitter, LinkedIn is a great platform to engage with people in the same industry. Along with interacting directly with other influencers and posting content that is relevant to groups within LinkedIn, you are also able to find more guest blogging opportunities.

The difference is LinkedIn is so industry-specific. It gives you the unique opportunity to reach professionals in your field as well as people who are interested or looking for those particular services.

So if you’re looking for some ways to make your SEO life significantly easier, these are definitely some outlets you need to check out. Remember to keep your SEO goals in mind and you’ll be improving your PageRank in no time.

SEO Power Suite, Moz, Screaming Frog are all great tools as well. I find SEO Power Suite and SEMRush the most useful for tracking KW, and screaming Frog for site audits. Moz & SEO Power Suite & Web Tools are good for reviewing links. I recommend using multiple tools because nothing is 100% accurate & your better safe than sorry with SEO
