6 Highly Actionable Content Marketing Tips Worth Doing

Do you know nowadays what are the trending content marketing tips?

We’re well into 2017 already, and you’ve got big plans for your business.

This is going to be your year, the year you crush the competition, push your revenue through the roof and become a household name.

You know that content marketing needs to be a big part of your marketing strategy, but you’re also feeling a bit stuck.

You don’t have many ideas.

Don’t sweat. In this post, I’m going to give you 6 highly actionable content marketing tips that are actually worth giving a try.

You can immediately put these to work as you get your marketing strategy up and running.

6 Content Marketing Tips That Work

1. Create A Video Series

For the last decade, online video has grown in popularity, reaching a fevered pitch in 2016 with multiple platforms giving user the option to broadcast live to their followers.

Facebook keeps doubling down on video, and viral videos like Chewbacca Mom demonstrate that a single piece of viral video content can open up thousands of new opportunities.

Given this trend, consider releasing videos in 2017.

The videos don’t need to be complex, highly edited, or filled with Michael Bay-esque explosions.

Gary Vaynerchuk built a media empire simply by releasing passionate Vlogs related to wine every week.

The are thousands of options for these videos, including:

  • Daily tips
  • Answering questions from fans/customers
  • Discussing news related items
  • Rants

To boost your content marketing, tap into the power of video.

2. Start Influencer Marketing Campaigns

In the last year, influencer marketing has become a massive part of many companies’ content marketing.

If you’re unfamiliar, influencer marketing is reaching out to key influencers in your industry and asking them to engage with your content, either by sharing it socially or by allowing them to be interviewed.

There are several primary reasons for the surge in influencer marketing:

  • It allows you to reach a bigger audience
  • It instantly boosts the credibility of your content
  • It often opens the door for you to reach other key influencers

As AdWeek put it:

People expect brands to talk with them rather than at them. They no longer expect brands to sell to them, but to entertain and inform them. In this new paradigm, influencers are a force to be reckoned with. Brands can strategically partner with the right personalities to spark organic conversations and seduce their followers.

As you ponder your content marketing this year, consider how you can regularly create influencer marketing campaigns.

These can be as simple as reaching out to heavy hitters on social media or interviewing key players in blog posts.

3. Publish High Quality, Long-Form Content

With the amount of ludicrous drivel being created on a daily basis (I’m looking at you BuzzFeed), long-form content allows you to truly stand out in the crowd.

In fact, numerous studies have shown that when it comes to social shares, long-form content far outperforms shorter, more mundane material.

Sure, we all love a good Harambe meme, but we can only look at those for so long.

You may think long posts are only for those who want to start a blog, but that’s not the case.

Creating lengthy, well-written, high-quality posts immediately does several things for you and your company:

Given these realities, not including long-form content in your 2017 content marketing plan is like forgetting to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day.

It’s a mistake.

4. Get on the Snapchat Wagon

The days of Snapchat solely being the domain of goofy teens and people wanting to share nude pics are over.

In 2016, Snapchat surpassed Facebook in total video views, garnering over 10 billion each day.

That’s a lot of people watching a lot of video.

Snapchat also released their spectacles which allow a person to record and share video from a first-person POV.

That’s also a lot of potential customers.

Marketers who continue to scoff at Snapchat are going to find themselves left in the dust in 2017.

If you’re not a trendy teen who throws around phrases like, “On fleek,” you can still use Snapchat to your advantage.

Don’t miss the bandwagon this year.

5. Tie Content to Sales

One of the biggest mistakes content marketers make is neglecting to clearly connect their content marketing strategy to their sales funnel.

They treat content as if it’s a magical pill that will instantly generates mountains of new sales and passionate customers.

Effective content marketing requires a clear vision for how new content will move potential customers into and down the sales funnel.

Try split testing your landing pages, rethinking how you’ve created your website for function and several other tweaks.

Before creating each piece of content, ask yourself, “What portion of the funnel is this connected to?”

Content exists to create new customers, strengthen relationships with existing customers, and bolster your brand.

If it doesn’t do that, it’s like a reality show without a Kardashian: pointless.

6. Leverage Your Email Campaigns

For the last decade or so, we’ve been hearing that email is dead when it comes online marketing.

Despite these dire predictions, email continues to chug along, playing a crucial part in most companies’ content marketing plan.

Why is this?

One of the main reasons is that consumers have become overwhelmed with notifications but still pay attention to their inboxes.

Every day we are assaulted by a thousand buzzes, beeps and chat invitations.

The inbox, however, tends to be given a greater degree of attention.

Email can also be highly segmented and automated, making it easy to integrate with the sales funnel.

Don’t believe the prophets of doom. Continue to create and leverage email this year.

Don’t hesitate to mix and match these until you find what works best for you.

Some people are comfortable on video while others prefer to craft epic blog posts.

As long as you have a strategy to incorporate some of these tips, you’ll be in great shape.

Your customers are waiting to consume your content!

So, take into consideration these content marketing tips and go out there.
