Matt Cutts Taking a Break from Google

Kathleen Garvin

Matt Cutts is taking a time out.

Today, the head of Google's Webspam team announced on his blog he's "about to take a few months of leave."

Matt shared the news on his Twitter account late this afternoon.

So, what on Matt's agenda?

He's doing what most of us would do with extended time off from work: unplugging from emails, spending time with family and going on vacation.

As Danny Sullivan notes at Search Engine Land, it isn't clear who will take over Matt's place during his absence. But on his blog, Matt assures us the Webspam team will be in "great hands."

Does this mean Google algo updates will also be taking a break? ...Probably not. But one can dream.
