Take full advantage of the filters options
Say you are thinking about opening a recruiting website that is specifically for application developers. Your feeling is that there are plenty of websites that assist in staff recruitment, but they list openings and resumes that are not specific to developers. How would you then single out the keywords related to staff recruitment of application developers? A few simple steps that use the filters on the keyword research software –SEMrush.
First make a list of the top ranked recruiting websites, from the search results. You can accomplish this by making your own list or using the keyword research tool SEMrush, which will show your the top companies ranked for that particular keyword.
For example, entering the search terms “application developer jobs” generated the following information as the “Organic Results”.
Most of the websites on the list are job search websites, so we can go ahead and analyze them. Click on any website link and in the new tab you will see comprehensive data on website keywords. Clicking on the link for the organic keywords table will show you an expanded view of the results.
Now to apply the filter that will allow you to narrow down the keywords related to your intended application development job opportunities, you would use the filter in the upper right corner of the “Organic keywords” field. Type in the specific keyword–in this case “application development” and the tool will generate the results.
Often the list that is generated is quite large and you need to process it, and this can be easily accomplished by using column sort feature.
For example, if you are interested in the keyword search volume you can click the Volume heading which will sort the keywords in descending order for volume of monthly searches. Similarly, if you wanted to order the results by the website position for the given keyword, or any other data columns you can simply click on the appropriate heading.
If you would like to save the results that you have generated for later use, you can simply export the data to a document. To do this you would navigate to the Export option and choose “Export to Excel”, or the appropriate program. This allows you to keep track of your competition and further analyze the data on your terms.
You can also add or exclude additional keywords after you run the data this can easily be accomplished so that you can generate the more specific and useful results. For example, if you know that you search terms will contain application management companies but you don`t want to see the search term company in the results, you can click the Add one more button and select Exclude -> Keyword-> Containing-> Companies.
Analyze separate pages
Another time wonderful saving tip to make your SEO keyword research and analysis more efficient is to analyze specific pages, this can be done at the beginning of the process. Similar to the process listed above, you enter the target search term “application developer jobs” and proceed to the Organic Results table. Then you look beside the domain column and find a column labeled “URL”, where you can find certain pages that are ranked for the specific keyword.
Using this example, clicking the URL from the website computerworld.com resulted in a new table that contained a list of keywords that this particular page ranks for in the organic search results. All the keywords shown were relevant to the search and then can be added to your own keyword list.
