Traffic Analytics: Exploring the Subdomain Level
Do you know how many subdomain levels a URL can have? The answer is 127… in theory. In practice, it’s hard to imagine why a company would need so many, as subdomains are mostly used for regional or mobile website versions or extensively structured volumes of product information.
The search engine sees subdomains as separate websites, which makes them so valuable for competitive analysis and our newly added subdomain analysis feature in Traffic Analytics so helpful.

To collect the data, enter one of your competitor’s top subdomains into the Traffic Analytics search bar to get most of the metrics you usually have for the root domain: user behavior, desktop vs mobile traffic, traffic sources overview, geo distribution, top pages, and subdomains (if there is more than 1 level).
You can also compare the performance of several competitors’ subdomains to see whose promotional, international SEO, social media etc. strategy works better. To do so, just add up to 4 domains to the one you are already analyzing and press ‘Compare’.
