Deniz Aksen

Professor of Management Information Systems AT Koç University

Associate Professor Dr. Deniz Aksen is an alumnus of Istanbul High School (İstanbul Erkek Lisesi) Class of 1989 (Efsane-89-A). Deniz Aksen holds his BS (1994) and MS degrees (1996) from Boğaziçi University Department of Industrial Engineering in Istanbul, Turkey. He received his PhD in Management Information System (MIS) from Krannert School of Management at Purdue University, USA (January 2003). Right after his graduation from Purdue, he joined the College of Administrative Sciences and Economics (CASE) of Koç University in Istanbul. He has been working in the Operations and Information Systems group of the Business Administration department of this college since then. Deniz Aksen’s research interests include distribution and collection logistics, facility interdiction and protection problems, and political apportionment methods. He teaches in the areas of MIS, e-commerce, search engine optimization and marketing, mathematical modelling with spreadsheets, and advanced Excel. From 2011 through 2014 he supervised Koç University student teams participating in Google Online Marketing Challenge (GOMC). In 2019 he was honored with the Outstanding Teaching Award of CASE for his continued dedication to his students and their learning.
