Purchase Conversion: the next frontier for Semrush competitive insights
When you can measure the effectiveness of competitor tactics, you can choose the right ones to integrate into your own strategy.
With the new Purchase Conversion metric, you can reveal what percentage of visits to a domain ended with a conversion and identify trends in Purchase Conversion across the year for insights related to seasonality or specific strategy shifts.
For example, maybe a domain’s traffic stats reveal a big push for a new product with paid search and paid social traffic. The effort has led to spikes in traffic. We might call this a success, right?
But what if conversions remained the same, or dropped during the same period, as we see with depop.com above? Or maybe the increase in conversions matches the increase seen at the same time last year, when the promos weren’t running?
With these insights, you can dig deeper to understand why these brands didn’t see the growth in conversions along with growth in traffic they were likely hoping for.
Where does Purchase Conversion data come from and where can I find it?
We generate our Purchase Conversion data by running clickstream data through our proprietary AI algorithms. In the process, we crunch numbers for pages designated as conversion pages, such as “Thank you” pages, “Confirmation” pages, or “Check out pages,” allowing us to generate accurate Purchase Conversion estimates.
Along with the Market Explorer Growth Quadrant (shown above), the Market Explorer All Domains report also shows Purchase Conversion data for the entered domains. Scroll over to the Purchase Conversion column to compare conversions among market competitors.
Using the date and location selection options at the top of the reports, you can easily compare Purchase Conversions across various timeframes and GEOs.
When it comes to the new Purchase Conversion, we’re just getting started. Right now, Semrush customers who have purchased a .Trends solution can access the Purchase Conversion metric within the Market Explorer tool.
We hope you’ll enjoy some game-changing insights as you get your strategy ready to close out 2023.
