SERP Features: Related Searches

Related searches, also known as “people also search for,” “people search next,” and “refine this search,” are a series of suggested searches related to the original search query. If the user clicks on the Google-suggested content, they are brought to other Google SERPs for related searches.

How to Rank for a Related Search

It is not possible to rank for related searches as this type of feature is not linked to specific domains or content. Meaning, after a click, the user is not suggested a specific source to visit.

However, this type of information may be effectively used for insights on keyword variations to implement into the content. There also might be different ‘extended’ variations of related searches with suggestions linked to specific content.

How Semrush Collects Data About Related Searches

  • When we scan a keyword’s SERP, we identify whether or not related searches are present anywhere on the results page.
  • If related searches are present on the SERP, you’ll see its gray icon in the SF column.
  • Since we cannot currently collect URLs related to related searches, we cannot say if a queried domain is featured and cannot save it as a position.
