Domain & Keyword Analytics
This is the starting point of any online marketing activity—who your organic and paid competitors are, how well their websites perform, and which keywords are at play.
Within our reports in just a few clicks, you will get the right keywords for your campaigns, uncover your competitors, and gather all of the analytical data you’ll need.
A Request basically serves as a search. If you typed in a domain and were redirected to the Domain Overview, that would be one request.
However, if you were to click on the traffic number listed under Organic Search from the Domain Overview, this would then be the second request. Each time you go to a different report within SEMrush, that counts as an additional request.
Results are what show up for your query. For example, if you go to the Organic Positions report for a domain, each keyword would count as a result. Same goes for the exports, you would be limited to the number of results available for your subscription plan.
Historical data in all our analytical reports is only available to our Guru level users or higher. Historical data allows you to see past data on any query you enter within SEMrush. Our database goes back as far as January 2012. Pro users will only be able to see our live data. Users can access this data through the Live Data box in the top right of your given report.
Competitive Intelligence Add-On
Complete access to the Competitive Intelligence add-on (Traffic Analytics and Market Explorer) data is available at $200 per month and can be added to any paid SEMrush subscription - Business, Guru or Pro. With these tools, you can benchmark and compare multiple websites’ performance, traffic, and user engagement, monitor trends, conduct awesome presale research, and much more.

Number of Projects
Some of the major SEMrush tools require a preset project. All tools within a single project are focused on the same domain, this way you are able to keep track of your progress.
Our Projects section serves as a valuable resource for any digital marketer. Through various tools offered within the Projects interface, users can find powerful information to effectively structure their digital marketing campaigns.
Based on your subscription level, you are only allowed a certain number of Projects:
Share projects with your colleagues for dynamic and transparent cooperation.
You can always delete a project to free up space for a new one, but keep in mind that you will lose all of the previously collected data.
Site Audit: Pages to Crawl
The number of pages your Site Audit can crawl throughout all of your projects is limited by your account. Each package comes with a total number of pages that a user can crawl per month. Here are the limits by subscription:
The Maximum number of pages that can be crawled in a single audit:
- Free: 100
- Pro: 20,000
- Guru: 20,000
- Business: 100,000
Pages to crawl do not roll over each month, however, they reset on the 1st of the month.
Once you use up your total amount for the month, you would either need to wait until next month for your limits to be reset, expand your limits, or to upgrade your account to receive more pages. When conducting your Site Audit campaigns, you will want to keep this in mind so that you don’t waste your limits.
Site Audit: AMP Checks
Since page load speed has a great influence on user experience and is a ranking factor for Google, you can see why AMP becomes an important platform for e-commerce and advertising.
Just like the other tools within our Projects interface, our Position Tracking tool also has subscription limitations. These limitations come in the form of keywords:
You will also want to keep these limits in mind when doing your reporting. If you ever run out of keywords you can always remove individual keywords, remove any projects, buy more keywords, or upgrade your account.
Multi-targeting is available to our users with a Guru or higher subscription plan, and allows users to gather rank tracking data for multiple devices and locations simultaneously within the same project (for example, Desktop vs Mobile).
Please note: When you add another location or device to your campaign, your account is charged separately for the keywords in the second location.
So, a Project tracking the same 10 keywords in 3 different locations costs 30 keywords from your account limits.
On Page SEO Checker
On Page SEO Checker allows you to pair landing pages with sets of keywords to get recommendations for search engine optimization.
If you want to get optimization ideas for 100 keywords 10 times a month you will be spending 1000 keywords. Your limit refreshes each month on the 1st of the month.
Please keep in mind that this tool shares its limit of keywords (labelled as SEO Ideas units on your Subscription Info page) with SEO Writing Assistant and SEO Content Template. Every target keyword that you enter into one of those tools will also count against the same pool of limits (10 for a Free account, 500 for a Pro account, and so on). Social Media Toolkit
If you work with social media, you must know how hard it can be to track and analyze the results of your activities, while also keeping an eye on all your competitors. Another big and time-consuming part of a social media specialist’s workflow is managing all of the accounts, scheduling and posting to different social networks.
These tools have limits on the amount of tracking and posting you can do with them, based on the SEMrush subscription level you have.
Social profiles in Social Media Tracker are the profiles of your brand and your competitors you are tracking within your Project.
Let's say you have created a Social Media Tracker project in which you are only tracking Facebook and Twitter. If you were to add two competitors who both have Facebook and Twitter, you would have used up six profiles.
Each competitor would have two profiles along with the two profiles you added for your own domain, to give you a total of six profiles.
Social profiles in the Social Media Poster are the social accounts you can connect to SEMrush in order to post across different social networks from a single tab.
For example, let’s say you have three Projects with Social Media Poster running, and in each Project you have Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest connected for posting. This would cost you nine profiles (three connected profiles in three Projects).
Make sure to use the Analytics tab to get a quick analysis of your page’s performance in one easy-to-read table.
Content Marketing Toolkit
SEMrush offers multiple tools for content marketing. In addition to auditing your content and tracking its performance, you can use SEO Content Template for creating SEO-friendly content from scratch.
Topic Research is a fun tool for content ideation in a creative and informed way, but please note that Free users and users on Pro will only be able to use it twice.
Marketing Calendar lets you organize a team’s marketing plans. This tool is available on our Guru and Business levels of subscription. While with a Guru you could manage just one calendar at a time, with a Business you could manage an unlimited number of calendars. Additionally, Business accounts can share Marketing Calendars with “read-only” access as well as “edit” access, but Guru accounts can only share calendars with “edit” access.
Brand Monitoring scours the Internet every day for any mention of a word or phrase that you want to track and lists the mentions in an organized feed. You can use it to follow mentions of your brand name or any relevant topic you want to follow.
If you have a Free or Pro account, you could use Brand Monitoring for 1 project to see mentions on Web for 1 day in 1 location for 1 keyword. With a Guru and Business you get the full access to the Brand Monitoring features including the ability to see mentions on Web, Forums, Twitter, and Instagram for 6 months as well as 5 locations and 3 keywords to track per project, sentiment analysis, statistics report, filtering and exporting.
SEO Writing Assistant is a browser extension that integrates SEO Content Template recommendations in your Google Docs. It’s possible to use it once with a Pro and a Free account. On a Guru and Business it shares the same limits as SEO Content Template and On Page SEO Checker (called SEO Ideas Units).
SEO Content Template analyses your top competitors for your target keywords and provides you with recommendations for creating winning content. While with a Free and Pro account you can create 1 template with 10 keywords, with a Guru and Business you’re limited by your SEO Ideas Units. This means that the maximum possible number of keywords on Guru is 800 and on Business is 2,000.

The reason these tools share the same unit is because they all operate when you enter a target keyword or set of keywords into them.
On Page SEO Checker pairs keywords with landing pages of your site to generate recommendations to improve the SEO of the pages. Every time you pair a keyword with a landing page, it costs 1 unit. If you pair 2 keywords to a landing page, it will cost 2 units.
SEO Content Template takes a target keyword and location and generates a template for SEO content aimed at ranking on Google’s first page for that keyword. Every keyword entered in this tool will use 1 SEO Ideas unit.
SEO Writing Assistant is a Chrome add-on that integrates with Wordpress or Google Docs that grads your draft of a piece of content according to our SEO Content Template recommendations. Every time you enter a target keyword for a piece of content attached to SEO Writing Assistant, it will use 1 SEO Ideas unit.
The general rule to keep in mind is that one keyword entered into any of these tools = one SEO Ideas unit.
If your monthly limit is 500 units and you generate 10 SEO Content Templates (with 1 target keyword per template) and enter 100 keywords into On Page SEO Checker, your monthly limit would remain at 390 units.
*Please note: with a Free account, you are given 10 SEO Ideas units, but will be limited to 1 SEO Content Template and 1 SEO Writing Assistant.
Therefore, you could use all 10 in On Page SEO Checker, or create 1 SEO Content Template, 1 SEO Writing Assistant, and then use 8 units for On Page SEO Checker.
PPC Keyword Tool
PPC Keyword Tool makes the job of a PPC specialist much easier by simplifying the planning and setting up of Google Ads campaigns. With this tool, you can organize keywords into ad groups and campaigns, receive local volume and CPC data, quickly set up negative keywords and export a campaign plan to import directly into Google Ads.
The number of keywords you can export with CPC and volume data is limited by your subscription:
Please note: you can export as many keywords as you have in a PPC Keyword Tool campaign. However, you will only be able to export CPC and volume data for the amount available with your plan. For example, a Pro account could export a PPC Keyword Tool list with 600 keywords, but only the first 500 (based on campaign and alphabetical order) would have CPC and Volume data. The remaining 100 would just be exported as keywords without any further metrics.

PDF Reports (Scheduled and Branded)
The PDF limitations within your SEMrush account refer to your capabilities within the My Reports section. Every account has the ability to create as many PDF reports as they wish. However, depending on your account, you can only schedule a given number of reports.
Here are the limitations for scheduling your reports by package:
When it comes to Branded PDF reports, this option is only available at the Guru level or higher. Pro level users will be unable to remove the SEMrush logo from their reports. SEMrush does provide a white label option, however, this is only available as an add-on to our Business level package.
Product Listing Ads (PLA) Research
Product Listing Ads (PLA) are displayed when someone searches on Google for a product that has a listing on Google Shopping. This type of ad is more intent-oriented and has a much higher conversion rate than the regular ad snippets, therefore serious e-commerce should pay close attention to the PLAs.
With a Free, Pro, or Guru account, you will be limited to only 10 rows of results when you query a report in this tool.
With a Business account, you will have full access to PLA Research reports. These reports include a PLA Positions report, Competitors report, and copies report (for seeing your competitors’ actual PLAs).
Display Advertising reports tell you everything about your competitor's use of online display ads. You can study your competitor's banners, sidebars, and text ads placed through Google Ads and published on the Google Display Network.
Display Advertising is available to all users but Pro and Guru accounts have limited access to a Business account. Below are the features that you get when you upgrade to Business.

Exporting the Keyword Report
If you have a larger marketing team, you might need to have more than one user per SEMrush account. By default, every plan includes one user, but you can have a maximum of two for Pro, three for Guru, and ten for Business. Monthly pricing per added user depends on the level of your subscription.

Application Programming Interface (API) is a way of receiving raw SEMrush data without having to navigate into SEMrush itself. The main API package includes Analytics API, Projects API (Site Audit and Position Tracking data) and Accounts API. This feature is only available to our Business subscribers.
SEMrush users can also access Traffic Analytics API (Basic or Extended). However, this API is unique in the fact that you don’t need to subscribe to SEMrush to gain access to Traffic Analytics API.
